Hi, The Minnesota State Fair 2009 is held between the 27th of August and 7th of September and exhibits livestock, art work, food, exciting rides and much more. The aim of the Minnesota State Fair is to strengthen community ties and learn more about farming and animal rearing through amusing and interactive events and exhibits. The State Fair includes a daily parade that showcases a marching band and includes animals, special floats, etc. At the Warner Coliseum on the Minnesota State Fairgrounds there are a number of events such as bull riding and exciting rodeos. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police put on their famous Musical Ride during the fair featuring 32 riders and horses in a choreographed ensemble. The Minnesota Fair events also include a talent show, live stock shows of every variety, needlework and canning competitions. The Ag-Hort-Bee is another popular event that features competitions in different categories such as farm crops, vegetable and potatoes and flowers. Travadvice360

check out the state fair website as well: If you're from Germany you should have a good time, there is lots of great German food and you'll probably even find some people to talk to in German. I'm German myself.

It's opening day today for the 2011 Minnesota state fair. It runs through Labor Day weekend, and it's actually a great time. I'm a West Coast native but a graduate of the University of Minnesota and have a lot of family back in the Twin Cities, and we've gone to the fair many times. There are always jokes about the big number of fried foods on sticks, but even those are pretty cool, and the food, games, and concerts definitely are fun for the whole family. And you can see the fair's Dairy Princesses get their heads carved out of butter -- can't beat that! A tip for fairgoers -- parking close to the fair is a nightmare. We used to park at the huge overflow lots at the U. of Minnesota campus (on the East Bank, near Mariucci Arena, though some layout may have changed since the new football stadium opened), and they run really frequent shuttles to the fair. Probably several parking areas around the cities do this; it's definitely worth looking into.
