best places to find rapids in Montana

hiya,

we'd like to make rafting the focus of our Montana vacation. where are the best places to find rapids? should we go for day trips or half day rafting trips?

hiya,

There are many different places where you can enjoy Montana white water rafting. However, one of the best places to find rapids in Montana is just outside of Missoula where the Black Fork River flows through the Alberton Gorge.

The rapids here are mostly class II and III, which will suit pretty much all levels, though I'd say that the summer months are the best time to enjoy the rapids here.

Regarding rafting trips on the Black Fork River, I'd suggest to book a full-day trip, as they normally include a lunch stop, dinner expeditions and cruising down the scenic Bitterroot River.
