|  Northern Nevada Golf It may as well be called the Silver and Greens State, because Nevada likes its golf. A lot. In the state's upper latitudes, practically inhabitable community offers golf. Take the burning Sands Golf Course in Empire, for instance, Built by the town's gypsum miners, the 9-hole course winds through town, crosses streets, and features a 420-yard par 5 with a 320-yard dogleg.
