half-day trips from Santa Fe

hey guys, this spring we'll be going to Santa Fe NM for 20 days. We'll be exploring Santa Fe, though also the area around.

we're thinking to take a couple of half-trips to Rio Chiquito, La Puebla and Chimayo. Anyone been to any of these places advice which one is nice?

I personally think one of the best day trips from Santa Fe has to be Chimayo, which is about 30 minutes north of Santa Fe right in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo mountains.

The area is known for its many shops selling high quality woven goods as well as fine art and crafts from the region.

Chimayo also has such a beautiful architecture and a rich history that will make a trip here unforgettable. For instance, the central plaza was built about 1740 and is the last surviving Spanish fortified plaza in the Southwest United States.

By the way, there are many hotels in the Chicayo, though those closest to the town are primarily historic and charming old bed and breakfast inns built in the Spanish colonial hacienda style.
