Hi Jack,

Albuquerque is without a doubt, the most popular city in New Mexico and It attracts thousands of visitors every year.

The Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta happens during the first week in October and lasts for 9 days. It features a wonderful display of hundreds of unique hot air balloons and over 1,000 pilots participating in the event.

The festival remains a popular event which is attended by the enthusiasts year after year.Tickets start at $6 for anyone over 12 years old and it is free admission for anyone under 12 years of age.

Hope this helps

Default Albuquerque Balloon Festival

Anyone been to the Albuquerque Balloon Festival in the past? Am I too late in trying to plan a trip for 2011? if not, what are the dates?

What about parking there..is it best to do a park & ride arrangement, and which area is the best for restaurants, hotels, general wandering. any other ideas on hikes and things to do during the Albuquerque Balloon Festival is appreciated:)

Thumbs up balloon fiesta

It isn't too late Constantine675 to plan a visit to the balloon festival. The balloon fest is in about 9 days time (starting in Oct 1 and ending on the 9th). If you really want to go, you do need to arrange for accomodation like now...

As far as parking at the Albuquerque Balloon Festival, you will definitely need to do the park and ride. It's so much easier than waiting in line to get into the fiesta parking lot. As far as other stuff to do, if you plan to visit with kids you could go to the Natural History Museum and Explora.

Thumbs up balloon fiesta in Albuquerque

yep, the balloon fiesta in Albuquerque is definitely the biggest show off on earth! Something like 700 hot air balloons from all over the world take flight, glowing at night, and showcasing their cool designs and shapes - it is simply amazing!

The best part is that it's the only event that allows people to walk amongst the balloons and get hands-on close....you can watch as they unroll the balloons, and gas up the propane tanks to stand the balloons up then lift-off...wow!
