Gila National Forest campgrounds

hi,

we're planning to explore the Gila National Forest and camp out there as well. Does anyone know of campsites in there? Also, what activities can you suggest or popular attractions nearby?

hi there,

There are many campgrounds in the area which are mostly 'first come first served' basis apart from the Pinon Campground ( open May through October) with 22 camp spaces which you can pre-book.

Some activities in the summer include horse-back riding, camping, hiking the hundreds of miles of trails, climbing, caving and cycling. In winter, visitors can enjoy cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

Also, while you there check out, the Gila Cliff Dwelling National Monument which is an exciting place to explore and discover the tucked away rooms and corridors.
