You could rent a car, the trip is probably about 2 1/2 hours, or you could take the train out of the city to Newark, NJ and there is a rental car place across the street from the train station and drive down from there (get right on the turnpike to the parkway) This way you can avoid the hassle of driving in New York City.

I agree that renting cars will work out cheaper and makes your journey convenient and enjoyable. Bus tours from New York as well offer the best value for money. Actually, bus journey is not too long and it takes the same time as the car journey. These bus tours from New York provide tour packages that include tickets to the most popular attractions in the New York City as well. Have a nice time.

Thumbs up Re: From NYC to Atlantic City

Can't wait. I'm really excited about this service. Is there an exact date as to when this will happen? This service should have been available along time ago. I think this service will be a big hit because the last time I went on Grey Hound it was like a zoo. This should boost the travel to AC way up. I was surprised to see that it will take the same amount of time by train as by bus. I thought the train would take less time. If anything I think the train will be most convenient and I'm sure more comfortable.

Smile driving from NYC to Atlantic City

Don't think driving is a good idea folks! I mean, the drive isn't too bad but once you drive all the way to either NYC or Atlantic City parking will be a problem so it's not like you can park anywhere, can't you? Even if you could, it'd turn out to be an expensive trip paying for parking...

If I were you, I would get the train, or even a casino bus such as the Hampton Luxury Liner bus which travels direct from New York City to the Atlantic City Casinos daily.

Honestly, this will save you the problem of parking in town, not to mention tunnel traffic and tolls, and the impossibility of finding free parking.

Wink avoid casino buses like the plague

Flying too expensive, bus journey too long...You almost ruled out all transportation options buddy;) btw, where did you see $600 for a flight to Atlantic City. The highest i've seen was $300 for a round trip ticket.

Anyway, you can rent a car and drive it, hop on a casino bus, or take the ACES direct train to Atlantic City, though I'd avoid casino buses like the plague unless you don’t mind riding with human cargo.

I prefer the train option which you can catch directly from New York’s Penn Station to Atlantic City’s Express terminal. it only takes around 2 hours and 40 minutes and cost around $32.

Red face atlantic city is more than gambling

I just wanted to highlight that there is more to Atlantic City than gambling such as seeing the Caesars pier forums which have a mini Bellagio show there.

You could also drive a couple miles south into Margate and see Lucy the Elephant, and then stop at Robert's to enjoy some of the best chicken wings ever! If my memory serves me well, the entire side trip will take you about 3 hours, so it's a good way to kill a little time without having to be out of Atlantic City all day.

Default booking transportation with a casino

You could try booking transportation through the casino. A lot of the casino websites will have listing of the bus companies that visit, and I bet a bunch of them would lead tours from NYC. Often times, this is a very cheap way to get to a casino. The tour might even include overnight stays for a good price, too.

Thumbs down not worth going to Atlantic City

if you have absolutely no intention of gambling, then it is a far drive from NYC to just walk on the AC boardwalk. I know because I live in NYC and go down to Atlantic City all the time, but I play poker at the Borgata and walk on the boardwalk for the purpose of finding a casino to play craps so it's worthwhile for me.

I guess the boardwalk attractions may be worth the trek to Atlantic City, though I'd suggest not going to the Wrigley's Believe it or Not because it's such a waste of time and money. i also do not recommend venturing outside the strip. AC isn't all lights and glam. if you must, take a taxi. you'll see what i mean.

Wink trip to Atlantic City

It's worth taking the trip to Atlantic City in summer even if you're not gambling as there is the boardwalk, an amusement park, and concerts and the shows to keep you busy.

If it's gambling that brings you to Atlantic City you'll be right at home as there are some really nice casino hotels where you can do some serious gaming.

There are also many slot tournaments, blackjack tournaments and poker tournaments held in Atlantic City.
