Default Best Airport in New York

The Best Airport in New York

There are 3 main Airports in New York

(JFK) John F. Kennedy, Queens
(LGA) LaGuardia, Queens
(EWR) Newark, New Jersey

But which one is the best?

Firstly JFK – This is the largest of the 3 airports. It has 10 terminals and more than 110 airlines fly from here. It is around 18 miles from Midtown Manhattan to JFK Airport and it takes 35-90 minutes to travel. Although it depends on the traffic conditions and the daytime. Transportation to the airport is relatively straight forward. There are plenty of buses available that take the route to JFK, there are trains, a shuttle service and of course there are the famous New York yellow taxi cabs. To get from terminal to terminal there is the Airtrain JFK so this also helps make your journey a little easier. The airport also offers great facilities like car hire desks, hotels, Phones, Internet Access, restaurants, ATM’s, Bureaux de change, bars, 4 chapels, has a medical centre, baby change facilities and even shoe shine services.

La Guardia - airport is located in nearby Long Island in Queens. It is about 9 miles from Manhattan and is the smallest of the 3 airports. LaGuardia handles mostly domestic flights. Again travelling to the airport is much the same as travelling to JFK as they are both situated in Queens and there is a free shuttle between the terminals here too. Similarly LaGuardia offers the same large choice of facilities. Hotels, Bars, Atm’s etc but although they may not have the shoe shine service they do have the addition of a dentist.

Newark - The international airport, Newark Liberty International Airport, is located in New Jersey and is about 15 miles south west of New York City. It is the fifth busiest international air gateway into the U.S. handling about 30 million passengers a year. Newark handles both domestic and international flights. It's a bit further from the city than the other two airports, but it is generally less crowded and has more modern facilities.

So which is the best? It seems that although La Guardia is closest to Manhattan, all three are close and convenient enough to be used interchangeably for the most part.
