New York

New York, one of the original thirteen colonies, is filled with popular culture as well as historical venues. Visit the Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, and Niagara falls. It's a busy city with events held at Madison Square Garden, Time Square and exhibits at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Travel throughout the city is just as easy as hailing a cab or catching the subway and trains.

Default Empire State Building

A wonderful place to visit if you are in the city,New York's Empire State Building, a U.S. National Historic Landmark, soars more than a quarter of a mile into the atmosphere above the heart of Manhattan. It has both a glass-enclosed area and roomy outside promenades on all four sides.

I love it! The last time I went at night and it was too foggy to see anything. So they closed it. I was really disappointed.

I love it. Do you know if it's possible to take the stairs to go up there? Would be a fun thing to try. Once.

There is! AND there's an annual race from the bottom to the 86th floor where the observation deck is.

Sounds great, I guess I have to start practice my stair climbing skills straight away then!

It's absolutely possible to climb the stairs -- although I seem to recall you can't get quite all the way to the top, like that. Perhaps that's changed since I left the city; it might have been maintenance related. I just remember that you couldn't get onto the stairs from the top floor, back in the 1980s.
