Hotel/rental studio search in south Brooklyn!

Hey all,
I'm going to be in the Mapleton neighborhood of Brooklyn, the 3rd week in June, taking a class whose location is approx. 18th Ave/58th St.

I can not find ANY hotels or rental studios or anything anywhere near this neighborhood!

The closest thing I can find is just south of Prospect Park and that isn't close! Last time I took one of these classes they got us a block rate at the Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge--but not only was that still really expensive, the carfare one-way to class was at least $20. One way!!

Can anyone suggest reasonable alternatives, or direct me to a hotel that is close to a bus line or subway that would get me from the hotel to the neighborhood of my class so that I'm there by 8 a.m. every day?

Thanks for any assistance! (The rate we had at the Marriott was $165/night--I'd sure like to do better than that, as well as not have to pay $40 a day in transportation!)

Park House Hotel is located in Borough Park (12 minute walk to your location) and rates range from $75-$85/night.
