| Moderator Jr Member | North Carolina is a long way from the North Pole, but it's home to some amazing polar bears. Their home, the North Carolina Zoo in Asheboro, is expanding the exhibit. In total, the process will cost $6 million, adding a splash pool, a visitor plaza, and a shelter. The bears will also have a holding area and even a maternity room. It will take a few years to complete the exhibit, but you can still see the bears in the meantime.

| The polar exhibit is great, and all the other animals in the zoo are in their natural habitats, and they all look extremely healthy. This zoo gotta be one of the best in the country, and also one of the largest...there are lots of walking trails and one day won't be enough to see it all. I recommend everyone wanting to visit this zoo to visit during a weekend to be able to see it all. You could visit North America one day and Africa the next. |

| Good to hear they are expanding the polar bear exhibit...I thought the NC Zoo is a pretty cool zoo that is laid out nicely, although like the last person said there are lots of hills so, by the end of the trip you will feel it. Overall, they have a good selection of animals to view but with the typical crowds in place it can be tough to actually "get a spot at the glass" to see the animals. |
