hi there,

what makes the state capitol in Oklahoma City building so popular it's the unique bronze sculptures on the capitol building's plaza as well as the portrait of the Cherokee diplomat Sequoyah, who invented the written language of the Cherokee people.

Also, much of the capitol building's artwork was created by famous figures in Native American history.

A virtual tour of the state capitol is great way to see what to expect

The capitol is the only capitol building around that's surrounded by working oil wells. One is named Petunia because it stands in the middle of a flower bed. The current building, which was built in 1917, is packed with stained glass, artwork, and other interesting things to do. Trained guides lead tours during the work week, which take about 45 minutes. The tours are packed with information about the state's singular history.

Default tour of state capitol in Oklahoma City

I was there last month. I took the free 45 minute tour of the Oklahoma State Capitol and our guide was extremely knowledgeable and showed us all the interesting sites within the building. We definitely walked away with a lot more knowledge of Oklahoma City's history than we ever learned in school. I would definitely recommend it, even if you have small children.
