My husband and I are planning a trip to Oregon and coast in august for 10 days. We would like to visit Mount Hood area, Crater Lake area, then on to southern coast up to north coast. How long should we stay in each place?

Given the distance, you would be traveling overall; it’s difficult to say how long you should stay. The Oregon Coastline alone is close to 363 miles. By your post I am guessing Mount Hood would be your first port of call. With extensive hiking and sport facility’s, it would be a shame to rush the time spent here. Then a drive down to Crater Lake, again so much to do here, hiking, sports, and just total relaxation. From here you are close to the South coast, for your drive up north. On a personal level, I would set aside 2 1/2 days for both Mount Hood and Crater Lake, 3 days for the coastal drive, leaving a further 2 days, which covers your travel to and from Oregon and if you decide to stay an extra night somewhere along the way. Hope this is of some help to you, and have a great vacation. Oregon is a beautiful state.

hello, where should i stay in Portland? Driving down from Seattle and staying a couple nights before heading to Hood River, I don't need 4 stars. may be a cheap hotel in Downtown? Pls share your ideas or experiences. Cheers!

hello, I am sure many of the Portland hotels are nice but my favorite hotels are Monaco and Fifth Avenue Suites Hotel, downtown. I have stayed at 5 different hotels in downtown Portland over the past 5 years, but I always recommend these two to all my workmates and friends. Monaco is little bit expensive but the services are wonderful. I'm not sure about your budget, so recommending only two. You said you have a car, may be parking is expensive, we haven't been there with a car, so no idea about the parking charge. Downtown hotels are closure to Gardens, Museum, shopping and good eats, you can walk everywhere! Hope this helps...is it?
