Default Destination for Swimmers

Our family - two adults, boys 14 and 16 - are avid swimmers. After a few days in Panama City, what is the best island destination for swimming and kayaking? Is it Bocas or San Blas? Thanks!

The Bocas del Toro archipelago is considered great for kayaking and swimming especially
within the Bastimentos Marine National Park.
On the other hand in San Blas archipelago,a chain of hundreds of islands and islets, you can have more privacy by renting an island at a small fee and enjoy your swimming at your leisure.

hi Sunfish, comparing with San Blas Islands , Bocas Del Toro has many kayak opportunities and kayaking in Bocas Del Toro is the best way to see all the sights in the Archipelago. In many places of Bocas town, you can find rental kayaks and avail them for rent. Also you can go for Kayak excusrisons to explore the more distant parts of the archipelago. Not only kayaking, for swimming also, Bocas Del Toro is the best choice. Few months back, I went to this island and visited Isla Bastimentos, which is located just 10 mins boat ride from the Bocas del Toro town. If you are looking for a perfect place in Bocas for swimming then go with this Isla Bastimentos, it has plenty beaches and offers wild nature plus your kids can enjoy the marine national park. Even the beaches in Bocas del Toro is excellent for swimming, sunbathing & various water sports activities. If you need a comfortable place to stay in Bocas, then visit Bocas del Toro hotels for more details. I have stayed at the Bocas Inn and it is one of the best choice hotels in Bocas del Toro. Best of luck and have a nice vacation in Panama!
