Peru

Experience the festivals of Peru all year round. Take a walking route on the Inca Trail , which leads to Machu Picchu, a town sitting at 7,000 feet above sea level with great Inca monuments. Visit the town of Cusco and get a taste of pre-Columbian cultures or see the artifacts at one of the many Peru Museums.

Default Re: Experienced Peru Traveler Here

My husband and I are making plans to travel to Peru - probably in September. We would be flying into Lima and then want to visit Paracas, Nazca, Colca Canyon, Lake Titicaca, Cuzco and Machu Pichu/Aguas Caliente -- and not necessarily in that order.

I have a lot of questions: First of all, is there an air travel pass that would let you fly to several cities for one fee. How about buses? What are the differences between regular buses and "tourist" buses. I have read about some buses with "bed" seats for overnight travel.

Would we be better off arranging a tour or individual programs in each city. How difficult is it to get from place to place with only a little bit of Spanish (we have travelled in Spain, Mexico, Ecuador, etc.)

Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Finally, I would love to go to the Inti Raymi Festival, I am sure it is very exciting. How can we do that and get from place to place.

Many thanks for your help.

mm, donīt know where to start but u donīt have to worry about air destinastions (like 5) not with the same fee but apart they are not so expensive, like 100 dollars from Lima to Iquitos for example and then u can move by bus, buses are the cheaper way to move over Peru and thereīs bed-bus class so u wil feel comfortable u only have to keep in mind the hights only, the expensivest passage would be..... 50$ more less but u can spend less if you want like 20$ depending your destination trust me if u want to save money u can, it is not expensive being in Peru. any question pepe_mxpx@hotmail.com, bye and good luck

The Inti Raymi is only on June 24th. And if you want to find a room, flight or even a train to Machu Picchu for those dates you better hurry up as Cuzco literraly gets booked full.

There is no "pass" for fomestic flights in Peru and you can expect to pay between $100 to $149 for one way tickets. The bus seervices in Peru are great, much higher standards than the USA. Always take 1st class , as anything else can be very shaddy.

hope this helps ..

I would say arranging tours in each city is the best way to go. You can cover ballestas islands and nazca lines in two days, then head to arequipa, visit santa catalina and the next day head to colca canyon, overnight in colca lodge is recommended, then puno and lake titicaca (two more days). then you can get to cusco by train or a turist bus (bed-style).
the only flight you will need is the one from cusco back to lima, that is about $74
i'll be glad to assist you with anything else
