worth doing lake titicaca on a tour?

has anyone been to lake titicaca in Peru on a tour? what did you think? worth it? How much does it cost to tour on a boat and who did you book with?

Most definitely, though the Lake Titicaca itself is nothing unique but the floating island of Uros is what makes a tour of Lake Titicaca worth it. These are the islands made of reeds where the Indians live. You'll have a cracking time there dancing with them, soaking some great culture and buying beautiful hand made stuff.

The tour of the lake shouldn't cost you more than $50 and it's best you book through your hotel cincierge you'll be staying or a reputable tour operator.

Yes a trip on the Lake is really worth doing! A full day trip out to the flaorting uros Islands followed by a visit to the traditional island of Taquile is a great day out. Best of all it is really quite good value for what you get, proving you do it as a shared tour.

There are daily departures, but you need to bood at least the day before, if not a few days before. Prices including lunch are about $40 per person or a little more.

You might want to try Suri explorers in Puno who operate boats on a daily basis.

the floating islands are really beautiful but they're absolutely a tourist trap in the sense that the islands you go to are visited by tourists every day, dominating the life of those islands. it's okay for a day tour but it isn't a must. if you do take the boat-ride out to the island be sure to stay overnight in one of the homes on amantani .
