Peru

Experience the festivals of Peru all year round. Take a walking route on the Inca Trail , which leads to Machu Picchu, a town sitting at 7,000 feet above sea level with great Inca monuments. Visit the town of Cusco and get a taste of pre-Columbian cultures or see the artifacts at one of the many Peru Museums.

Default Cuzco - Machu Picchu

Cuzco is considered the most impressive pre-conquest city in the Americas and Machu Picchu the eighth wonder of the world. Cuzco was the center of the Inca empire which included present day Peru, Ecuador, Chile, Argentina and Bolivia and its buildings reflect the power of that empire. Machu Picchu was a religious center built in the most inaccessible, wildest of country sides literally on the peak of a mountain. Both are awe inspiring and anyone who visits Latin America without seeing them both has had a wasted journey!

Default Re: Cuzco - Machu Picchu

I agree that Cuzco is an impressive city although its been several years since I've been there I found Inca sites like Saqsayhuaman out of town most amazing. The Inca stonework in the city center is something you need to see to appreciate. Imagine cutting a 12 sided stone and fitting it into a wall!check out the Inca wall here. Beyond the history the people in the city I found really nice and accomodating even for the non-spanish speaker.
