| Peru Experience the festivals of Peru all year round. Take a walking route on the Inca Trail , which leads to Machu Picchu, a town sitting at 7,000 feet above sea level with great Inca monuments. Visit the town of Cusco and get a taste of pre-Columbian cultures or see the artifacts at one of the many Peru Museums. |

Ladies- Brazil, Rio for the beaches and the MEN! Buenos Aires for some sensual Tango dancing. Regarding Peru, however, I'll credit Ric with getting it COMPLETELY right! You can literally be surfing in the Pacific one day, hiking at 14,000 feet above sea level in the Andes the next day, and relaxing in a hammock in the Amazon the next. And Peruvian food is the BEST... Ric forgot to mention: Papa a la Huancaina, Aji de Gallina, Tallarin Verde, Cabrito a la Chiclayana... the list goes on and on... Enjoy!

I'm interested in the comments by Lola and Ric. I was told that driving in Peru was not easy. I find this hard to believe as I've driven without issue in slightly wild places like western Belize, Antigua, Ireland, Memphis, and -- worst -- Washington, DC :-D I'm planning a Peru trip in December. We will likely be there 8-9 days. Cusco/Machu Picchu are on our "must visit" list. I'd like to go to some places once we get back to LIma. Any advice on getting around? Planes are not preferred. Trains are fine and cars are best. Can you easily drive from Lima to Cusco or to the north? Thanks! | |
