Peru

Experience the festivals of Peru all year round. Take a walking route on the Inca Trail , which leads to Machu Picchu, a town sitting at 7,000 feet above sea level with great Inca monuments. Visit the town of Cusco and get a taste of pre-Columbian cultures or see the artifacts at one of the many Peru Museums.

Thumbs up Re: Travel to South America!

Brazil, Rio for the beaches and girls.

Buenos Aires for the meat and wines, plus the Bariloche and Patagonia area is simply beautiful.

Peru, well, Peru is simply the best. In what other country can you drive from the desert Coast thru the high Andes snow covered peaks, on to the Rainforest in a one day's drive thru all paved road,,, only Peru.

ah, Peruvian food, ceviche, papa rellena, and its Pisco! it rocks.

Default Re: Travel to South America! - Amazon River Tours

I'll add in Brazilian Amazon Tours can't be beat. There's something magical about taking a slow boat up the Amazon, a cold cerveza, and fishing for pirhana.

Here's a nice Amazon River Boat that might get you inspired.

Lightbulb Re: Travel to South America!

Yep, the Amazon is beautiful. Simply amazing and also very very big. Have you guys heard abour the Manu or Tambopata Region?

The Tambopata forests cannot be compared with other regions of the Amazon such Iquitos(Peru) or Manaus (Brazil) where local residents have adapted to western development and wildlife habitat suffers from poor soils, commercial exploitation, human settlement and hunting. Tambopata and Manu are some of the most pristine natural regions on Earth with the highest levels of species diversity of rain forest mammals, birds, and reptiles in the entire Amazon. The link below will take you to some cool lodges, pics and information in the Tambopata area. Enjoy ...
