Peru

Experience the festivals of Peru all year round. Take a walking route on the Inca Trail , which leads to Machu Picchu, a town sitting at 7,000 feet above sea level with great Inca monuments. Visit the town of Cusco and get a taste of pre-Columbian cultures or see the artifacts at one of the many Peru Museums.

Default The Amazon - Travel Peru

Along the Madre de Dios and Tambopata rivers, are several lodges to base oneself for jungle excursions, but these are usually on the rustic side. Because of its diverse vegetation, this part of the jungle contains a large number of mammals such as giant otters, tapirs, anteaters, caimans and many species of birds.

ACCESS ROUTES
Puerto Maldonado is only accessible by plane from Cuzco and Lima.
ACCOMMODATION
All lodges in the area are constructed using the same traditional materials and architectural techniques that native communities throughout the Amazon use for building their homes: wood, palm fronds, wild cane and clay.
WHEN TO GO
The rainforest of Puerto Maldonado should be visited in the dry season from April to November.
HOW LONG
I recommend spending 4 days in the lodge. 3 days is just too little time to get a real impression of the jungle.
