Default how to go to machu picchu?

Hello,

I´m planning to go to Peru and Machu Picchu in august. I heard about several ways to get there, the Inca Trail or by train or any alternative trek. Does anyone has experience with this and which way is recommended to reach Machu Picchu?

Thanks!

Hi there,

Most people who visit Machu Picchu Peru come by way of train from Cusco, taking about 3-4 hours.

If you want to go in style, you should book the Hiram Bingham-class trip, which costs around $500, but It includes entry into Machu Picchu, as well as a guide and a gourmet meal each way.

The train eventually takes you to the town of Aguas Calientes, which is the general base town for Machu Picchu tourism.

Hi. When I visited, I took the train from Cuzco. It was a while back, but I think it took around 3-4 hours. Amazing scenery along the way. If you are wondering about how to get to Machu Picchu via the Inca Trail, there are two main routes/trails. One takes four days, I believe, and the other easier trail about half that. Both trails start just outside of the town of Ollantaytambo.
