How to deal with scraper websites? We'll we've been trying to get scraper websites like bestpicturesof.com to quit scraping our content for sometime and we typically get good results by reporting to their revenue sources, mostly Google Adsense. In this case Google response is to bestpicturesof.com compliant is: >Google AdSense is a program for web publishers who want to display advertising on webpages they control. By placing AdSense code on their webpages, the publisher can display text-based Google ads that are relevant to the content readers see on the pages. Publishers, not Google, control what pages have ads and the content of those pages. Google is a provider of information, not a mediator. We serve ads targeted to certain webpages, but we don't control the content of these pages. For these kinds of questions or comments, it is best to directly address the webmaster of the page in question. Regards, The Google Team If you didn't give them an easy revenue stream would they be scraping? So our approach with image scrapers and websites stealing our content is to file a DMCA at their revenue source and also Google. Our DMCA resources. Adsense DMCA Form Google Web Search DMCA

can't believe Google's statement that they're only "mediators"..no wonder this is encouraging bad practices with the so called scraper sites which is one of the many nuisance of the Internet. Google could easily put a stop to this by banning these websites Adsense accounts.

Search engines like Google or Bing have the tools to distinguish between original and copy content and could act accordingly, but since most scraper sites run Adsense ads and drive some decent traffic from the search engines to the sites, they make Google a decent amount of money! As d360 suggested what we can do is to file a DMCA at the scraper's site revenue source and also Google. Btw d360, what's your experience with filing DMCA complaints, fast or slow?.. and whats the response you get from webmasters normally?

Probably 90% or more comply with requests and Google is typically pretty good about dealing with scrapers too. On occasion though we need to take measures which get 100% compliance. I'd rather not discuss them on the forum though.
