best time to visit Madeira Island

Is there a particular time we should avoid visiting Madeira Island? i mean storms, rain and all that kind of thing...also, where in the island we should arrange guided tours?

Spring and Autumn are the best times to visit Madeira Island, no doubt! I would definitely avoid the month of August since this month sees a fair amount of rain.

The main city of Funchal is the best place to arrange all kind of guided tours such as hiking excursions and walking tours of the city that will allow to explore places like Praca do Municipio, which is the city's main square.

If you are staying at one of the hotels in Funchal, be in the known that some of the tour companies offer hotel pickup, which is great if you're not planning on using rental car, though taxis and buses are also available.
