Seychelles travel advice

hi,

what's your advice on taking cash with you while on holiday? what do you recommend taking, cheques?...Also, what about exchanging money on the streets?

hi there,

Cash is the best in my opinion. However, do take Euros as they are the most acceptable, Credit cards (Visa, Barclaycards, Access, Amex) are widely accepted by most hotels, restaurants and related services such as car hire, excursions etc.

Also, ensure that when you purchase local currency you obtain and retain the receipt. There are cash points at some banks on Mahé and Praslin where you will be able to obtain local currency. No cash point or bank will issue or provide you with foreign currency.

By the way, it is illegal to exchange money other than through banks or local hotel cashiers.
