back country trip in South Carolina

my best friend and I are planning a back country trip in South Carolina and need some input!! where in the state can we enjoy canoe or kayak tours, and explore diverse wildlife..any ideas of state parks and national parks that you could recommend?

I'd say that the Congaree National Park is one of the best places for wilderness hiking and camping in South Carolina.

Congaree National Park boasts gigantic trees, and so much wildlife like wild birds, bobcats, and black bears. There is also a river flowing through the park, so you'll get a chance to explore the park by canoe or kayak.

Having said this, there are no rental facilities at the park, so you will have to rent equipment elsewhere or bring your own boats. On the bright side, you can also arrange a guided canoe tour with a park guide if you wish to.
