|  Re: caves in South Dakota hi there, The caves in South Dakota are mainly located in the Black Hills are, and many of them are sacred to the Native American people of the region. Having said this, the Jewel Cave National Monument is one of the most visited one and it is located on Mount Rushmore Road, just west of the town of Custer and Custer State Park. Jewel Cave National Monument is a great place to explore and apart from touring the caves, the state park itself have many hiking trails where you can explore wildlife along the way.
