is it hard to make Korean friends?

I am going to S Korea for 6 weeks with friends, though I want to make friends with Koreans too. Will it be hard for me to make Korean friends being American? People give the impression that Koreans prefer to stay amongst themselves, is this true?

I felt the same way when I went to Singapore. Making Korean friends won't be hard, though people in South Korea seem very shy so, people are reluctant to initially talk to you because of this, and not because they don't like foreigners.

Many South Koreans speak English so, speaking English can make you lots of friends, though I'd think that your goal will be to learn Korean.

Really?? I think Asian people are nice.. I've been in Hongkong people there are approachable..
