main attractions in Avila Spain

hi, we're going to Madrid in late August but we'll be taking at least two day trips to nearby cities. We have in mind Avila..what are the main attractions in Avila Spain that we can check out in one day? thanks!

If you want to get a feel of ancient Spain, the city of Avila is a place you simply can't afford to miss. The ancient atmosphere is truly intoxicating, and while the walls are impressive, you will also enjoy the city's churches and palaces.

All of the Avila Spain main attractions can be found within the walls of the old city or just outside the walls. For instance, Avila's main cathedral is within the city walls and it's open to visitors throughout the year and features a museum that is worth checking out.

The Basilica de San Vicente is found just outside of the city walls, and it's an elegant basilica where you can step inside for a look at the tomb of St. Vincent.
