Default Re: trekking the Pyrenees

I am a fairly seasoned hiker! The main thing is not to carry unnecessary weight, and to wear and carry the right equipment. You need to stay dry and warm, and your rucksack should not weigh more than 18 kg and that's including food, though I personally like to keep my rucksack around 14 kg.

You do not need to carry books on trekking the Pyrenees with you. Before your trip, just note the information relevant to your hike on the back of your map.

I think the most beautiful parts of the Pyrenees that offer the best treks are the Northern parts of the Spanish counties of Huesca, Val d'Aran and Lleida, the French county of Ariège and Andorra.

Regarding base camps, there is one somewhere north of Lleida and the other one at Miglos called the house of "Friends of the Pyrenees".
