|  things to do in alcala de henares hey folks, we will be doing instense touristing in Madrid but we want to explore other places outside the city. Has anyone visited Alcala? we'd like to do the day trip from Madrid there? what's best way to get there and what is there to do? |

| Re: things to do in alcala de henares Alcala de Henares is only 30 minutes drive from Madrid by bus (you can catch the bus from Avenida de America bus station), which I think is the best and inexpensive way to do the trip, though car rental will give you more freedom! Once you get to Alcala de Henares, you will be able to enjoy walking tours of the historic downtown area, and sample some of the famous tapas food. Another cool thing to do in Alcala is to visit the nearby town of Nuevo Baztan to enjoy some tradtional shopping at the flea market squares. There is also a castle there that you can explore and take pictures of. |
