Things to do in Madrid

On a visit to Spain’s capital city you will have a huge choice of what to see and do. Below is a list of some of the best places to visit on your trip.

The Corral de la Morería - was inaugurated on 25th May 1957, making it the oldest flamenco show restaurant in Madrid. Its owner, Manuel del Rey, wanted to offer the best for his customers from the very beginning, hiring the best chefs and the most distinguished artists, such as Blanca del Rey, Antonio Gades, Lucero Tena, Pastora Imperio, Mario Maya or "el Güito". In all aspects, the restaurant strives to offer an exquisite service to the customer, and this is what makes El Corral de la Morería one of
The air-conditioned premises are prepared to seat 150 people. Furniture and lamps from the XVIII and XIX centuries give the restaurant a real Castilian style setting, transporting clients to a true "tablao" of the time.

The Las Ventas Bullring - Madrid's main bullring is called, Las Ventas. Built in mudejan style, this impressive building is formed of red brick and ceramic tiles. Today the ring is also used for rock concerts and political meetings. The best time to see bullfights in Madrid is during the months of May and June. The world famous San Isidro bullfight festival takes place during these months and brings together the best fighters, bulls and aficionados. There are fights every day for 20 days, starting at 7 o'clock in the evening. The festival includes a variety of different fights, with novillos (young bulls), rejones (bullfights on horseback) and Goyesca fights (in period costume).

The Prado Museum - is Madrid's top cultural sight, and one of the world's greatest art galleries. Located in the eponymous street, El Paseo del Prado, its dazzling display of works by the great European masters such as Velázquez, Goya, Raphael, Rubens, and Bosch (among other major Italian and Flemish artists), is housed in an 18th-century Neo-Classical building that opened as a museum in 1819. The sheer scale of the collection can make it daunting, so it is important to arrive with a few of the highlights in mind and concentrate on those

Bus Tour - This tour offers you a special view of Madrid, onboard a double-decker tour bus that takes you on a scheduled panoramic tour of Madrid on two possible routes. This is a great way to see the city's fantastic monuments and sights, allowing you to get a good overall view of Madrid, with the flexibility to hop-off the bus to further explore any attractions you particularly like. And then you can hop-on again to continue your tour as the next bus comes round! You can hop on and off the bus as many times as you like on either of the routes, or even start one route, and join another at one of the interconnecting stops. The routes are; Modern Madrid and Historic Madrid

Retiro Park - The Retiro is perhaps Madrid's best known park. It occupies 296 acres of land in the very centre of Madrid. It originated as the gardens of the Palace of the Buen Retiro. The park includes a stunning rose garden, a boating lake, around which there is always a large variety of shows and street theatre during the weekends.

By Night Tour - The Madrid by Night Tour offers you the chance to enjoy a panoramic tour of the city after dark, along the capital's avenues and past monuments and floodlit fountains. Enjoy this different view of Madrid!

Or you may prefer a panoramic sightseeing tour by night with flamenco, again going past the most interesting avenues and squares of the city and Madrid's spectacular floodlit fountains, before arriving at the Florida Park Nightclub. Here you will see an interesting Spanish Flamenco Show, along with a selection of Spanish Dances

There are many more attractions in Madrid and buying a travel guide when you arrive will give you a good idea of what is happening during your visit. For a look at the accomodation in Madrid, check out the link below;-
