| Obviously it depends where you are in the Country but I live in the Costa Blanca near Torrevieja and find that the best bars in the area are the ones away from the main tourist zones. The reason being that the ones in the typical 'expat' or 'tourist' areas are often more expensive than the local bars the Spanish visit and you won't have the opportunity to mix with the locals. I live in a small village and always go to my local bars above others because I have the opportunity to improve my Spanish and it find I am able to save a lot of money. Having said that, there are occasions when I visit other bars such as the many Irish Pubs there are here, as all over Spain or bars with British entertainers. I would suggest however that the bars which are on the whole Spanish run and visited by Spanish customers are cheaper because they have less variety of drinks and stick to Spanish brands or local brews. I would think this would apply in all parts of the country, and have certainly found this to be the case when I've visited other areas of Spain too. |

| I totally agree with JT74 it depends whereabouts in the country you are. As a general rule check to see where the locals go and avoid places that are advertising their menu is English - the quality of food is usually lower while the prices are higher. Have a go at some Spanish and you'll be welcomed wherever you go. Rachel |
