There is indeed plenty of sightseeing opportunities. Koh Samui is home to many temples such as the huge seated Buddha, which is a massive 20-feet high bronze statue overlooking the sea.

You can also see the footprints of Buddha, which are located on a hilltop shrine near the Butterfly Garden. Buddha's footprints are basically four footprints engraved one on top of each other.

To get to the Buddha Footprints you need to climb 200 steps to the top, so you need to be fairly fit, though if you can manage, you will be rewarded with some amazing views of the island.

One of the best is island safari trip by 4x4 car. Trip takes most attractions and driving up to mountains to see Samui's beautiful scenery.

While Koh Samui does indeed offer glorious beaches and calm, warm water, this island offers enough sight seeing opportunities and activities to keep you busy during your entire vacation.

A day trip to the Angthong Marine Park is a must. The park consist of more than 40 small, uninhabited islands huddled close together. During this trip you will stop to snorkel and view incredible coral formations just 2 to 3 meters deep. Tropical fish come eat from your hand. During the trip You will also visit the small island of Mae Koh. This allows you a climb to a view point displaying the emerald green blue lagoon in the middle of the island. The caves, crevices and limestone cliffs, for which time is allowed to explore by kayak, is the stuff most people only see on post cards. You can visit several waterfalls, the mummified monk, the snake farm, crocodile farm and temples. Koh Samui has great 18 hole golf courses, water sport opportunities like jet skiing, sailing, and wind surfing. You could also go elephant trekking in the jungle, have fun with tree top canopy rides. Of course, snorkeling and scuba diving is great in the Gulf of Thailand.
