Airline seats to become smaller?

I read on the usa today that airlines are planning on making airplane seats smaller, to about 23 inches of space. Do you guys think that is a smart move? what do you think?

I read somewhere about the seat reductions as well as standing on planes like in buses or the subway.

The reason they're considering doing this, it's because of Profits! Packing in as many people as possible, like cattle.

To be honest, I can't see them reducing the seats further, as it'll be breaching health and safety airline regulations

I think the idea is so they can fit more people on the planes, they look very uncomfortable there is a thread at aardvark about it I cant post it yet though
