confronting plane passengers

I just returned from a 1 week trip to Spain visiting my parents, and i had possibly the worst plane experience ever.

The people sitting behind me never stopped talking and being loud talking about other passengers, saying things like: that man is ugly, etc. I think their behaviour was so immature...! I never said anything from fear of retaliation..and even the flight attendant never said anything!

Noone should have to put up with this kind of behaviour nor should hear such talk. Has anyone else encountered this? what would you do?

I have encountered this kind of behaviour you're describing at the movies but not on any of my flights. It would have taken enormous restraint from me not to say something directly to them, but I'd have asked a flight attendant to tell them off!

If that didn't work, I'd make a complaint to the airline...It's sad that the flying public has changed, people aren't as they used to be.
