I lost passport, how will I get another?

I was wondering if you ever do lose your passport, how will you get another? has anyone ever lost a passport before and what did you do?

I haven't been unfortunate yet to lose my passport but I have lost prperty before and I know how much it sucks!

Not sure If you lost your passport, or if you're wondering what'd happen. Basically, you need to prove that you are an American so your birth certificate or other forms of ID proof you'll need. Either way, the HS&BP need to be satisfied that you are indeed a citizen of the USA.

In case you lose it, this is what i'd do: make a few photocopies of the passport pages and keep them safe in different paces to make it easier for yourself requesting a passport replacement.
