So far I haven't yet experienced any hassle or threat to my safety while traveling. How about you have you ever had any experience that made you realize that traveling can be sometimes hazardous? Like had there been a bomb threat in a foreign mall where you're shopping? or was there kidnapping going on in the area where you were staying?

One experience that I had was when I was mugged and left penniless. Good thing that they didn't end my life. So it's a blessing because I'm still here. Best thing to do is to enroll yourself in a training program (martial arts or anything else that can help you with a safer travel). I did. And I feel more confident now.

We have been so fortunate. We have always been warned about the pick pockets in Italy, and have had friends that have lost their wallets, but we have always taken the advice of previous travelers and been very careful. In London, there have been bomb scares on the subway -- but those have been handled professionally, quickly, and safely. We have traveled extensively to El Salvador where the warnings seem daunting, but have never experienced anything but friendly, helpful people and have felt very safe. Common sense must rule when traveling -- and maybe some luck, don't you think?

I think it depends on where you are going and what you are doing there.. Generally speaking, vacation trip will be more enjoyable.. There is no special thing, do follow your normal precautions during vacation. Some unwanted events may happen but be optimistic that there will not be any such inconveniences and have a safe and fun-filled vacation.
