| This may be a stupid question, but I ask it with good intentions. I like to travel and often end up planning my own trips by researching (exhaustively) and finding great rates. I would really like to use my travel agent, but I had assumed that when booking thru the hotel websites and getting "super saver" or prepaid special rates, they probably don't pay her a commission. Am I wrong about that? Her agency is a very nice one, with Vituoso affiliations, etc. Do hotel chains like Fairmont and Omni pay agents a commission on bookings at those special rates? Thanks in advance... |

| Hi there, With regards to OmniHotels, travel agents do get commission for each on-line reservation they book on omnihotels. All they have to do is enter their IATA number into the "Travel Agent Number" field on the website's booking screen and they will receive commission for each reservation they book on omnihotels. Hope this helps VacationBuddy

| Thanks very much for that information - it definitely helps. I wonder if that practice is fairly common among the hotel chains? I know that many of the small hotels cannot pay commissions and I've just paid an agent a fee on those before. |

| Hi again, Most Hotels have a good relationship with the travel agents and pay commissions because they realize it will bring in repeat business in the future, therefore benefiting both parties. Hope this helps VacationBuddy
