exploring the south of England in early spring

Hello, I'm taking my wife to England next march and we will be renting a car to explore the south of England. We're only planning a 12 day trip so we won;t be able to see it all, so I appreciate any advice and suggestions on best areas of south of England?

England may seem small compared to other countries and as you point out, you won't be able to see it all in a couple of weeks, so I suggest sticking to a few counties such as Kent, East Sussex, Hampshire and West Sussex.

For instance, in Kent and E Sussex, don't miss the Dover/Walmer and Deal Castles, Sissinghurst, Scotney Castle Garden, Bodium Castle and Rye; while in Hampshire and West Sussex, don't miss the Arundel, Weald and Downland Open Air Museum, Portsmouth and New Forest.
