I have to admit I was kind of amused when I came across an article today about how British travelers are slowly becoming more and more "globalised." I didn't know they were considered so un-worldly!
Here's the article Quote:
|
The image of Brits ‘on tour’ has finally been relegated as 87% of tourists proudly attempt to experience local culture whilst abroad and 67% try to learn the basics of new languages. 55 to 64 year olds are the most likely to always make the effort. Egg and chips, mushy peas and fry ups are no longer likely to entice British holiday makers as only 9% prefer British menus over local dishes and one in three even bring back to the UK food that they can’t get at home.

The article then goes on to cite numbers on how many Brits take their own "homey" food with them when traveling. Speaking of generalizations, I wonder what the percentages would be for world travelers bringing along "homey" food when traveling TO Britain?
