Post living in Venezuela

Hi everyone, I have just been offered a teaching job in Ciudad Ojeda Venezuela and I'm wondering, can anyone tell me the cost of living in the area? I really know very little about the region so any insights would be greatly appreciated.

All the best in your travels.

Default Re: living in Venezuela

I have been to Venezuela a few times on holiday and 1 year living there as an exchange student. Generally speaking, the cost of living will depend on how good or bad the exchange rate in Venezuela.

Therefore how expensive or cheap things are will depend on what price you get when you exchange money. As a general rule, everything that costs $1 in the US will cost around 1000 Venezuelan bolivars (around $0.50). Almost everything is priced at that relative rate, except for things like housing, which will cost more or less depending on the region of the country.

To illustrate this further...if you want to have a similar standard of living as back home, you need to make at least 24,000 Venezuelan Bolivars yearly.
