Virginia Virginia is for lovers is what many locals are fond of saying in Virginia. Relive history here by attending a Civil War Reenactment, or visit the Museum of the Confederacy, home to the first White House of the Confederacy. For theme park enthusiasts, Virginia is also home to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg.

Hi Courtney, Well, yes, Williamsburg is all historical so it won't have the "poppin" nightlife you're looking for but there are a couple bars that are in the area. Paul's Del, and the Green Leaf. It will usually have college kids during the school year. The drive to the beach is well worth it if you're looking for that nightlife that will match California. If you want to shave off about 15-20 mins on a trip (depending on how fast you drive, of course going the speed limit ;-) ) maybe check out Richmond. As for exciting things to do, an amusement park is never a bad idea and Williamsburg is home to Busch Gardens. Or you can go to the largest water park on the east coast at Water Country USA. If you're into the wineries, then check out the Williamsburg Winery. Hope this helps. Let us know how your trip went.

For better nightlife you would need to drive a bit and hit either Virginia Beach or Norfolk, both ahve huge military populations. Norfolk is a little more city and Virginia beach is more oriented to clubs and doings a long the beach strip. Norfolk has a fairly large University and a medical school too so there are students and military looking to be entertained.

The historical attractions aren't boring you should seriously check them out. Busch Gardens is a great place to spend an entire day. Water Country USA is also great on those hot humid virginia summer days.
