Hi All! The Washington DC forum is now open. Feel free to ask your questions or answer some questions! What are your favorite Washington DC Sights? Personally, I liked the Vietnam Veterans Memorial done by artist Maya Lin. I didn't know anyone who was in that war but it was definitely a moving experience! What makes it more unique is that the veteran's names are in chronological order of death. Loved ones are able to leave photos, flowers, etc. Others use a paper and pencil to create a stencil of their loved one's name. It's definitely a must see! Another interesting one is the National Archive. View some of the United States most valuable documents. The Declaration of Independence is housed here in a room that is not very well lit but still viewable under a glass. Helpful tip: Do not use your flash inside the building. Security guards frown upon this. Also, do not bring large bags. They will be checking all bags at the security entrance.

Some of my favorite sights in DC are the Smithsonian and the National Art Gallery which are not too far from each other. Of course there's the White House and Congress but if that's not your thing try out Tyson's Corner for all your shopping needs. This is the biggest mall in the Washington D.C. Area. Also if you're willing to drive an extra hour away from DC the National Aquarium in Baltimore is a great place to go. The Aquarium is huge with a dolphin show and lots of floors of fish. You walk through all different kinds of species of fish.

We did something a little different on our last trip to DC we visited the international spy museum. It was really original and so interesting to learn about espionage and intelligence gathering. we then walked aroud the corner into fords theater, it is eerie to stand there and look up at where Lincoln was shot.

My favorites are the Jefferson Memorial and the National Archives. These were interesting and you learn alot of history here. The National Archives reminds me of one of my favorite movies, National Treasure.
