Washington DC

Washington DC is the heartbeat of the entire United States nation. Attractions here aren't hard to come by, it's getting it all into one trip that's the problem. Stop by the National Mall and see the Declaration of Independence at the National Archives. Sit at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Walk along the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Enjoy all the US Capitol has to offer.

Default DC with Kids in One Day

I am planning on a trip to Virginia with my Family but would like to see Washington DC in one day.

I am looking for recommendations that would entice two girls ages 10 and 6. My 10 year old has learned a lot in Social Studies and would like to see the sites. I will be there in August so it will be hot so some indoor stuff would be good. Where could I stay overnight outside DC for a good room rate and easy access to transportation for site seeing

I look forward to some great ideas and thank you in advance

If you look at the Washington DC page you will see a list of suggestions on places to visit in the city. The Family Vacation page is particularly helpful.

For historical and educational sites i would recommend a visit to the National Museum of Natural History, the National Museum of American History and the International Spy Museum.

If you are looking for a good room rate you can check out the discount hotels which DC has to offer and hopefully you will find something to suit your families needs.
