Hi, I am new to Seattle. I have a one year old. Anyone have fun stuff to do on a rainy day with a toddler? I just heard they are closing down the Green Lake community center indoor playroom due to city budget cuts.

Yes, that's the rumour but for what I can gather, the Green Lake Community Center won't be close after all but open for limited-use because the Ravenna-Eckstein and Northgate Community Centers are nearby. Tot Dance, Yoga with Baby, and music classes for tots and pre-K will move to Northgate Community Center isntead, that's all. Other places and things to do in Seattle with your tot are: -Zoomazium -Covered play area at University Village -The Seattle Aquarium -The Pacific Science Center -The Children's Museum -KidsQuest Children's Museum -Arena Sports Fun Zone at Magnuson Park

For a 1 year old there's always the parks. Greenlake is a good 2.6 mile loop, and the Arboretum and Seward Park would be good as well. There's also tons of mother & baby groups throughout the city, I'd look for some via the local community center and possibly message boards at the local coffee shops, yoga studios, etc. It's not a specific activity but other moms in the area are probably your best resource, right? Freshpickedseattle.com/freattle/ has some good weekly tips, I use that frequently for free classes and seminars around the city but they have stuff for children, too. For older kids there are paddle boat rentals in the Seattle area, Greenlake has one for example right on the North/East side of the park. The aquarium would be good at all ages.
