If you are thinking of taking a Pennsylvania vacation, you will have no shortage of choices for interesting places to go.  Nor will you have much trouble finding Pennsylvania hotels in the destinations you choose.  Pennsylvania is part Midwest state, part eastern seaboard state, which is perhaps why it is called the Keystone State.  It seems to hold the two areas together in a way.  Though the mountains don’t rise that high here, they present numerous possibilities for outdoor recreation and for excellent natural views.  Pennsylvania has good skiing in the winter, and in the summer, you can bet there are any number of exciting festivals and fairs going on.  In the Fall, it is among the best states to see the Fall foliage, and in the Spring, the flowers are blooming and the air slowly warms with a hint of the coming Summer.  Come visit Pennsylvania and get a taste of history, natural beauty and plenty of down-home charm.  There will certainly be enough Pennsylvania hotels waiting for you when you get here.

Philadelphia is the largest city in Pennsylvania, and it can be found in the extreme eastern part of the state, not too far from New York City.  Philadelphia is quite a large city, and as you might imagine, there are a ton of hotels in Philadelphia you could stay at.  You will have full-service luxury hotels in Philadelphia, and you will find plenty of budget hotels in Philadelphia.  Whatever your budget is, you can be sure that the hotels in Philadelphia have a place for you to rest you head at night.  And, in a city as historically-rich as Philadelphia, you are going to need a good nights sleep for exploring sights like the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall.  Oh yeah, and that statue of Rocky.  Not too far west of Philadelphia, you might drop in on the city of Lancaster for a taste of Amish life and culture.  Lancaster is a joy to explore, and with some great choices for Lancaster hotels, staying here for a couple days or more is a nice experience.  Not far from Lancaster, the sweet town of Hershey is an ideal place for a Pennsylvania family vacation.  Hershey Park is not only a great destination for kids, but adults also, whether they are with kids or not.  There are some pleasant choices for Hershey hotels, and for side trips, you can access the aforementioned cities, or consider a visit to Gettysburg.  There are some great Gettysburg hotels that you can choose from, with options to stay close to where the Battle of Gettysburg took place.  A trip to the Gettysburg National Military Museum is a good way to supplement your understanding of this important Civil War town.

Not far west of Hershey, the state capital city of Harrisburg sits on the large Susquehanna River.  You can enjoy plenty of fun activities, and just hanging out, at Riverfront Park and City Island, and a river cruise aboard the Pride of the Susquehanna is a nice way to take in the city’s sights.  Make your way through three centuries of history at the John Harris Mansion, and then entertain yourself for hours at the Pennsylvania State Museum.  Harrisburg is rich in attractions, and when it comes to the Harrisburg hotels, there are a couple very nice options, including the Cameron Estate Inn, which is a restored 1805 estate.  Harrisburg has plenty of options for Pennsylvania budget hotels as well, and a charming bed and breakfast could be the ideal choice for couples.  If you are heading east from Harrisburg towards Pittsburgh, you might take the time to stop in Johnstown.  Johnstown is most known for the devastating 1889 flood, which claimed some 2,200 lives.  As such, it makes sense that among the city’s attractions are places that consider the flood’s impact on the town’s history.  The Johnstown Flood National Memorial is worth a visit, as is the Johnstown Flood Museum.  The Grandview Cemetery in Johnstown is where you will find the Monument of Tranquility, which looks over the graves of 777 victims of the flood.  There are a good number of Pennsylvania budget hotels in Johnstown, and some decent mid-priced chains.  You can also stay in a Johnstown bed and breakfast, and if you are looking for Pennsylvania’s highest ski mountain, you might stay at the Four Seasons Resort in nearby Claysburg.

North of Johnstown, a town of considerable interest is Punxsutawney, especially on Groundhog’s Day, when the city’s notorious groundhog gives his prediction of the upcoming winter weather.  The Punxsutawney hotels fill up quickly around the first week of February, but if you come any other time of year, you can take full advantage of what they have to offer.  Another city where you can take advantage of some great Pennsylvania hotels is the city of Pittsburgh.  Pittsburgh is a visually interesting city, with its three rivers flowing among the surrounding hills.  The downtown yellow bridges give a nice touch to the overall scene, and surely you have seen them in more than one movie, whether you realized it or not.  One of the more interesting things you will notice in Pittsburgh is the local accent, which is referred to as “Pittsburghese”.  While in Pittsburgh,  attractions to see include the city funicular (incline), the Carnegie Museums, and Point State Park.  Speaking of downtown, there are some wonderful choices for downtown Pittsburgh PA hotels.  There is a good supply of budget Pittsburgh PA hotels in the way of chains and local motels, and in the city’s suburbs, you can find lots of additional chain brands.  For a change of pace from the Pittsburgh PA hotels, you might try a bed and breakfast.   North of Pittsburgh, a city of interest on the Lake Erie shores is the eponymous city of Erie.  Erie has some casinos, though it’s no Vegas, and the city is a great place to go boating on the large, freshwater lake.  Fishing and camping are also popular activities, and the Erie hotels provide an array of nice inns and chain brands.
