This interesting Kanab lodging venue was founded in 1931 by the three Parry brothers, whose names were Whitney, Chauncey and Gronway. Back in 1924, the brothers assisted with the transportation needs of Deadwood Coach, which was the first movie ever made in Southern Utah. They enjoyed the company of movie people so much, that they decided to open a Kanab Utah hotel to provide lodging for the stars when they were being filmed at various Utah locations.
Close your eye and imagine what it must have been like to stay at this Kanab Utah hotel during Hollywood’s Golden Age, when the Parry’s guest register included names such as John Wayne, Frank Sinatra, Olivia De Havilland, Gregory Peck, Maureen O'Hara, Tyrone Power, Linda Darnell, Robert Taylor, Anne Bancroft, Dean Martin, Lana Turner, Clint Eastwood and Barbara Stanwyck. Today, the Parry Hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Guests of the hotel can enjoy Western films at the Old Barn Theater, which is located on the hotel property.
