Stowe has been called the "Ski Capital of the East".
It is a required destination for anyone who wants a Vermont
ski vacation, but also a good base from which to explore
the Green Mountain state in warmer months. Because of
its close proximity to the ski resort, it is easy to find
a Stowe hotel at any time of the year, but it is always
best to make advance reservations in ski season. Many
hotels require a two-day stay during ski season and on
other peak weekends.

Green Mountain Inn is a large but intimate Stowe hotel located right in the town. The main inn dates from 1833 and the entire sprawling resort has an intimate New England feel. The best rooms have double Jacuzzis and gas fireplaces. Other great choices for Stowe Vermont lodging in the town include Austrian-style Innsbruck Inn and the Hob Knob Inn, which has a good ski lodge themed restaurant in a 1930 building.
Many hotels in the area double as Stowe Vermont bed and breakfasts. Rooms in the Gables Inn overlooking Mount Mansfield have whirlpool tubs ideal for after a day of skiing. Perhaps the most romantic of all Stowe Vermont bed and breakfasts is the highly rated Stone Hill Inn, a pure B&B in a secluded mountain location. Rooms are expensive (starting at over $300 a night) but worth the price if you want a nice romantic getaway. More affordable Stowe Vermont bed and breakfasts include the Ten Acres Lodge, a quiet 1830s farmhouse 6 miles from Stowe Mountain Resort, Timberholm Inn, one of Stowe’s oldest ski lodges, and the Auberge de Stowe, a comfortable example of the best in Stowe Vermont lodging located in the lower village.
