Wisconsin Hotels

Wisconsin Hotels

Wisconsin enjoys a great location among two of the Great Lakes, affording visitors numerous chances to get out on the water for recreation.  The numerous inland rivers and glacial lakes also provide plenty of chances to enjoy Wisconsin’s great outdoors, and everywhere you go in the state, the trees just seem to be healthier and happier than any place else on earth.  Perhaps that is due to the fertile lands that brought European settlers to the region who were looking to try their hand at tilling the land.  To help you enjoy your Wisconsin vacation, the wide variety of Wisconsin hotels offer choices to fit any taste or budget.  From resorts and bed and breakfasts, to motels and Wisconsin budget hotels, the Wisconsin hotels provide you with a place to rest your head while you experience all that the Badger State has to offer.

Wisconsin’s largest city is Milwaukee.  Known for brewing beer, Milwaukee is more than just brew houses and German taverns.  In recent years, Milwaukee has undergone improvements to its downtown district, and its new, state-of-the-art baseball stadium is a great place to watch a Major League Baseball game.  Milwaukee has world-class museums, two theater districts and a few choice districts for just hanging out.  If you check out just one museum here, move the Milwaukee Art Museum to the top of the list.  Milwaukee is also a great place for summer festivals, among the most popular of which is Summerfest.  The Milwaukee hotels have options for every budget, whether you want downtown luxury or options for Wisconsin budget hotels.  If you are traveling with kids and have room in the budget, your first choice for Milwaukee hotels could be the downtown Hilton City Center, which features the first urban indoor waterpark in the country.  For a change of pace from the Milwaukee hotels, you might look at one of the area bed and breakfasts.  In nearby Cedarburg, you can visit an area winery and combine the experience with a romantic bed and breakfast experience.  Milwaukee is under 100 miles from the Illinois border and the city of Chicago.

Just under 80 miles west of Milwaukee is the capital city of Madison, which is a most picturesque town, situated between two lakes and surrounded by rolling hills and forestland. Madison offers some of the state’s best urban and outdoor activities.  As is the case with Milwaukee, the hotels in Madison WI provide choices for every budget.  You can opt for four-star luxury, or find a comfortable room at any one of the numerous chain hotels in Madison WI.  There certainly is no shortage of good choices when it comes to the hotels in Madison WI.  Among the main attractions in Madison, are the Olbrich Botanical Gardens, the Henry Vilas Zoo, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus.  On the lower border of Wisconsin and Minnesota, the city of La Crosse sits proudly on the upper banks of the Mississippi River.  Not far south of La Crosse is the Iowa border, and so the city is a good place to rest if you are exploring the area.  You can tour an authentic Amish Village near La Crosse, and the annual Applefest Festival features everything from live entertainment to flea markets and beer tents.  There are some neat choices for La Crosse hotels, including bed and breakfasts and recreational resort cottage rentals.  For those seeking out Wisconsin budget hotels, you might compare prices at the city’s inns and motels.  There are also mid-priced chain hotels in La Crosse.

Back on the eastern side of the state, the city of Oshkosh is certainly worth a visit, if not for its shopping, then for its scenic setting.  Oshkosh is just 85 miles or so north of Milwaukee, and it sits on the large Lake Winnebago.  Among the main attractions here is the Menominee Park and Zoo, and the Victorian Grand Opera House, which dates back to 1883.  Within the Winnebago system of lakes, the fishing is among the best in the state.  The hotels in Oshkosh are primarily of the chain variety, some offering more amenities and better rooms than others.  Generally, the price for accommodations here is pretty moderate.  Football fans who are visiting Oshkosh, might make the 53 mile trip up to Green Bay, where the Green Bay Packers play their games at the legendary Lambeau Field.  Green Bay has a pretty interesting nightlife scene, with casino gambling, fine dining and blues clubs among the choices for going out on the town.  Visitors to Green Bay might tour the historic football stadium, combine visits to the L.H. Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve and the Green Bay Botanical Garden, or head out to enjoy recreational activities such as snowmobiling, skiing, hiking or boating.

The upper region of Wisconsin has borders with Minnesota, Lake Superior and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and its open expanses are among the best places to get away from it all in Wisconsin.  There are various choices for Wisconsin budget hotels throughout this region, and cabin rentals and camping are extremely popular area pursuits.  If you want to explore one of the state’s most prized vacation destinations, then you will stay near Green Bay and head out to Door County.  Door County Wisconsin is found on a peninsula that juts out into Lake Michigan, and you can find vacation rentals here that are right on the beaches.  But, it may be the Door country bed and breakfasts and inns that are the most popular Wisconsin hotels in the area.  Money Magazine named Door County “One of the top 10 vacation destinations in North America”, and it is a place where life slows down and antiquing is a major pastime.  Enjoying friends, family or that significant other is part of the Door County experience, and when it comes to Door County hotels, you can choose from resorts, to hotels and motels, and just about everything else.  Another popular vacation destination in Wisconsin is Wisconsin Dells, which hails itself as “The Waterpark Capital of the World”.   Just 55 miles north of Madison, the Dells brings in summer visitors in hordes.  The Wisconsin Dells hotels provide perhaps the state’s most unique selections, with everything from resorts and hotels, to cabins and properties that offer water activities in tandem with accommodations.  At places like Wisconsin Dells, be sure to check for package deals that award you with discount Wisconsin lodging.  You can also find discount Wisconsin lodging during the off-season, which is generally winter.
