Arabian Food

Traveling to the United Arab Emirates can seem daunting when you’re not exactly sure what to expect. Travel guides highlight the best attractions, provide a breakdown of popular Dubai hotels, explain the different options for getting there and away but they cannot provide you with any first hand experience. For many it’s the thrill of the unknown that is the main attraction. For others, there can be a few details to iron out before fully committing to UAE holidays. One of those details is food in UAE. One concern is that Arabian food is the only type of food available, which couldn’t be less true. With a world class designation comes world class amenities and that includes dining, where United Arab Emirates food includes cuisine from around the globe.

Visitors looking for a restaurant in UAE will be pleased with the large variety of choices. With high international standards, the UAE is well-known for being very accommodating to visitors. An innovative and sleek new food culture is emerging in UAE. Along with many kinds of delicious Arabian food, visitors will also find Japanese, Polynesian, Thai, Chinese, Italian, French and many other types of European food. When looking for a specific kind of restaurant in the UAE, there are plenty of city guides to help you find what you’re looking for. Hotel concierge services will also help you find a specific restaurant in UAE or even fast food if that’s what you’re craving.

Choices in food in UAE will be evident when exploring the major tourist areas of Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman or any of the other emirates. Though there may be less choice in Ras Al Khaimah or Umm All Quwain than in the more popular emirates, there is still a wide variety of dining options. Standard American fast food fare, think Pizza Hut, KFC and McDonald’s, is easily found in the larger cities. Options in United Arab Emirates food also includes large chains like TGI Fridays and Hard Rock Café. So if you’ve never tried Arabian food, and are not the adventurous kind when it comes to trying new food, then you’ll be well accommodated by the abundant American food in UAE.

Local food is widely available all over the country through cafes, food stalls and fine dining restaurants. Freshly caught fish from the Gulf is always a great choice as is fresh crab, lobster, tuna, grouper, red snapper, shrimp and more. You can order them stuffed with different herbs and spices, grilled to perfection or fried. In any restaurant in UAE you’ll most often find a very high level of service. Entertaining is serious business in UAE! Hospitality is very important to Arabs, whether your invited for a meal at their home or are serving you in a restaurant. Kindness, generosity and efficiency are key factors to service in the emirates and you’ll find this to be consistent all over the country, not just in Dubai.

Arabian food also includes such common fruits as oranges, bananas, pomegranates and grapefruit. Asparagus, spinach, carrot, onions and artichokes are very common vegetables. Other common ingredients in Arabian food includes flat bread, beans and grains, dried fruits and nuts, yogurt and cheese, including feta cheese, and a number of spices, most commonly saffron, pepper and salt. When you’re out taking advantage of all the fin things to do, don’t be afraid to try any of the local food like delectable shwarma or hummus and tabbouleh. The one thing you won’t find much, if any or, is pork as Muslims are prohibited from eating it. However, in the United Arab Emirates, food choices are so all-encompassing you won’t miss pork one bit!
